It's up and stable for the moment, at least.

I think I'll still see about getting a new computer this weekend.

Got home today, turned on computer, started to do things... then it rebooted.

Got to the Windows startup and rebooted again.

Then it let me briefly get to the point where I could open programs... and did it again.

Yeah, it's dead.

So now I have to go to a PC store over the weekend, spend $500 on a new PC, and see if my old HD can be salvaged.

UGH.

I picked up some new computer type stuff over the weekend.

Got a new 19-inch flat monitor to replace my 15-year-old 17 inch not flat monitor. I knew it would be better, but I had no idea how much better. It's fucking incredible. It's so bright and shiny and monitorey! Much more than my old monitor.

I also got a new keyboard, to replace my truly decrepit and miserable old keyboard. This new one is just a basic keyboard. I do miss the heavy clack clack noises as I type, though. This one's far too quiet.

And I got a new 500G external HD... which hates me. I simply can't seem to convince the thing that it's plugged into a USB 2.0 port, and uses a USB 2.0 cable. No matter what I do, I get the same "Hey, why don't you try upgrading to USB 2.0!" error message. And so now, of course, my torrents all suddenly do the "Disk Overloaded 100%, shutting down!" thing every half hour. Grump. Technology and I just don't get along.

Oh well, at least the error messages look stunning on the new monitor. :3
