So Ben Folds has his new album due out on 9/30, and about a month ago a 'leak' of it was posted to various fan sites. WTF? said fans, as they didn't believe the leak was the real album, but... the songs matched up, and were definitely Ben.

Ben has now admitted in interviews that they recorded an album of fake songs, and put out a fake leak for the hell of it. Though some songs may indeed be real. YOU NEVER KNOW.

Having listened to the fake album, it's pretty hilarious. Dr. Yang and Bitch Went Nuts are particularly hysterical, and you can tell they had fun doing this. You can download the tracks (for free, it IS a fake leak) here: http://www.thesuburbs.org.uk/

Note Ben's language is fouler than normal on these songs, though he's always had that trouble a bit anyway.

[EDIT: Just read the Rolling Stone interview about it. Apparently the final 3 songs are real, and genuinely leaked by Ben, though one is a DVD version. Makes sense, they weren't silly like the others.]
