The Doctor's Daughter
Well, that was... OK. Pretty good.
As always, the acting was fab from the regulars. Tennant was the best he's been all season, Catherine Tate excels as always, and Freema shows that Martha can be a viable character provided she's not around the Doctor. Writing her out was the best thing they did to her.
Georgia Moffett was also terrific as Jenny, doing a good job of making us care in the tiny amount of time they had to build her up.
Why was this one episode? There was far too much plot to jam in there, and it didn't give us enough emotional buildup for us to be upset at Jenny's 'death'. Not to mention the one-episode budget was stretched quite thin.
And I'm growing weary of saying that it was great except for the plot, but, well... was there a point to the seven-day thing at all? Nigel Terry was wasted as the General. The Hath were interesting, though.
And the Doctor still hasn't had sex, so old-school fans are saved from having to raid the BBC with torches. :) You could hear the audible sigh of relief across the world when the 'progenation machine' was used.
Oh yes, almost forgot the Fenric callback of hysterical. I can distract the guard! No, no, Sophie Aldred is still getting mocked for that scene, let's try a clockwork mouse instead. Besides, you're over 30, so can't have anyone interested in you (notice how Donna hasn't gotten all the flirting Rose and Martha get? Possibly as everyone still assumed she and the Doctor are a couple... really, just shag already. You'll both feel better.)
Really not looking forward to next week. Gareth Roberts, and from what I've heard in interviews he made it very funny. God save us from funny Gareth Roberts. >_>
